New CertainTeed Missouri Asphalt Shingle Plant Opens

8/6/2016

Asphalt Shingles, Made in America

In June of 2016, the CertainTeed Missouri asphalt shingle location opened. The new state-of-the-art 60,000 square-foot shingle manufacturing facility. Located in Jonesburg, MO, about 60 miles west of St Louis, this plant is the final phase of a three-year construction project of the Midwestern distribution site for all of CertainTeed’s asphalt shingles.

The site is not too far from East St Louis, where the company’s first roofing plant opened in 1904 under the name General Roofing Manufacturing Company. CertainTeed Founder, George M. Brown, has a vision of providing high-quality roofing products and this new facility carries on his vision.

Missouri is excited about the new plant bringing investment and jobs to Jonesburg. Steve Johnson, CEO of the Missouri Partnership, called CertainTeed “an incredible company, a great partner, and a perfect fit for this community and our state.“

CertainTeed also operates ten other asphalt shingle companies, a low-slope commercial roofing facility, and three granule production plants in the US. One of these facilities, in Oxford, NC, is the world’s largest roofing plant.
